Les Minimes beach
The closest to La Rochelle city centre, ideal for a quick swim with a view over the marina. Supervised in summer and easy to reach, it is perfect for families.
Châtelaillon-Plage
About ten minutes to the south, this large fine-sand beach is one of the locals' favourites. A promenade, summer events and seafront restaurants make it an ideal day out.

Fouras and the Pointe de la Fumée
Further south, Fouras-les-Bains lines up several small sheltered beaches, perfect for children, with the bonus of the departure point for Île d'Aix.
